Kids are messy!! Even more so if you have boys. And it can be hard to find a stain remover that works. For a while, I think one of my most asked questions when doing laundry was, “is this dirt or blood?” #momproblems #boymom
But I don’t sweat the stains now because I have the BEST DIY stain remover!! This recipe comes from my Grandma who knows how to do ALL THE THINGS. Seriously, she is like Super Women. Plus, she raised 3 boys so she knows a thing or two about stains on clothes. Best of all, this stain remover is super easy to make! Just mix all the ingredients together and store in an air-tight container.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of Dawn Dish Soap
- 1 cup of Ammonia
Directions
Mix all ingredients together in an air-tight container. Seal the container. That’s it!
***One important note — DO NOT mix or add bleach to this cleaner. Mixing bleach and ammonia produces extremely toxic vapors.***
When I go the use the stain remover, I like to apply it with a toothbrush. So I always keep one handy right next to the jar in the laundry room. This stuff gets everything out! It has gotten dried blood, ketchup, dirt. Everything that I have used it for, it has gotten it out.
If you are too busy to make your own, the best store-bought stain remover I have found is Excelsior Stain Remover. This stuff also works amazing for stains! And you don’t need to use much to get the stain out. I spay it on the stain, rub it in a bit, then throw the clothes in the washer. That’s it!
So there you have, two great stain removers! What is your favorite way to get stains out of clothes?
