We are knee-deep in the rat race of getting ready for the Holidays, so dinners and snacks have been pretty half-hazard as of late. So, I figured it was the perfect time to whip up some of our favorite protein bites. We love these chocolatey protein bites in our house. Added bonus: It’s a good way to get your sweet-tooth fix without it being absolutely loaded with sugar.
The Protein Powder
This protein powder is really the star of the show in my book. A few years back when we started to make a more conscious effort to eat healthily, I did a lot of research on protein powders and landed on what I think is a fantastic option. I love this stuff because not only does it have protein powder but it also has probiotics and other vitamins built-in. I…errr I mean Mr. MK makes me a shake every morning because I am the worst morning person ever; my husband loves me so much he makes my shake for me.
Anyway…personally, I have noticed such a difference in my health since I started using this protein powder! I feel like I get sick less and just all-around feel better. When I have a stretch where I don’t drink shakes, I notice a difference in how I feel. I get so many questions from friends and family regarding what protein powder I use. So, without further ado, we use Nature’s Bounty Complete Protein Powder. I like the chocolate better but the vanilla is good too. They also have a plant-based option but I personally have not tried this.
**Also for those of you who follow along and read my post about our switch to all-natural or organic products, this item is one of the items we bend on a little because I just love it so much. You can read more about our “all-natural” journey here.
The Protein Bite Recipe
Now onto the protein bites. Look at these things! Don’t they look amazing!? I got the recipe from Six Sister’s Stuff who has a fantastic post about these protein/energy bites, not to mention their site is also full of other amazing recipes. I have been making this recipe for over a year now and we still love it! It is super easy to make too. Just add everything to a bowl, mix, and form into bites. That’s it! I use and 8×8 Pyrex dish like this and layer the bites on wax paper. I do let them chill for about an hour or two before we eat them. They should last in the fridge for about a week. But, I have to be honest, they rarely last the whole week in our house.
