We love our boat time! With long days on the boat, come boat recipes. Over the years, I have been compiling a list of go-to boat recipes for long days on the boat. Given that we live in Wisconsin, we only get so much warm weather to be on the boat. With that being said, we like to be out on the water as much as possible. That means many full days out on the boat where lunch or supper needs to be packed.
Our first year with our boat, we learned quickly that plain sandwiches can get boring quick. In fact, by about mid-July is when we are searching for something different. However, not having the amenities of a kitchen and being restricted by cooler size greatly limits your options.
We have become experts on packing for the day on the boat. In addition to our go-to boat recipes, we have a “boat bag” that stays packed for grab-and-go times. For more information on how I pack a boat bag for a full day on the water, check out this post.

Containers to Pack In
I have a plastic snap container for packing lunches that I love, but I can’t find it online. Here is a picture of it:

It’s one solid container with four compartments that come out. I pack a compartment for each person in the family. I particularly use this with pasta or other salads. This (affiliate link) is the closest thing I could find on Amazon.
When we pack wraps, I love these (affiliate link) containers! They have held up for us, have great sizes, and seal up well. Most importantly, I like that the rubber seal can come out so you can clean the cover good if something gets stuck in there.
I hope this post helps you find new recipes to take on the boat or even on a picnic. What do you like to take out on the boat?
